Parent/Guardian and Youth Program

From Here On

Started in 2015, From Here On is a multi-session workshop series for youth and their parents and guardians to work towards better engaging in conversations about teenage dating relationships. The first session works with parents and guardians to gain a better understanding of how pre-teens and teens engage in dating relationships in the modern age, and learn practical conversation skills in order to have meaningful dialogue around these topics with the young people in their lives. The second session provides an opportunity for parents and guardians to practice these conversation skills with actual pre-teens and teenagers.

Session 1: Understanding Modern Teenage Dating Relationships
  • At the end of this session, adult participants will be able to design conversation starters for various modern teen dating relationship topics.
  • At the end of this session, youth participants will be able to differentiate between healthy and unhealthy media messages related to dating relationships.
Session 2: Engaging Youth and Adults in Conversation
  • At the end of this session, adult participants will be able to demonstrate effective communication skills on modern teen dating relationship topics.
  • At the end of this session, youth participants will be able to articulate how they would like to have meaningful conversations with adults in their lives about teenage dating relationship topics.
