Male Survivors

RCCCNM provides sexual assault services to male and male-identified victims and survivors of sexual violence.

Often, men who experience sexual violence aren't sure where to go or who to talk to about what happened to them. But according to the Center for Disease Control, 1 in 17 men will experience sexual violence in their lifetime. However, it is estimated that only 5% of all male survivors will report and/or seek help after being assaulted.

It is hard for men to find help after their assault for a number of reasons. Some male survivors are afraid others might think of them as weak or less of man, while others might think that because they are men, they cannot be victims of sexual assault. We are here to say that men can and are victims of sexual violence, but that can help.

The Rape Crisis Center is devoted and dedicated to meeting the needs of male survivors in our community. All of our services are free and confidential for men and male-identified survivors of sexual violence.

If you or someone you know is a male survivor, we are here for you. You can contact us at our 24/7 Crisis Hotline at 505-266-7711 or you can set up an appointment with one of our counselors for free and confidential counseling services by calling 505-266-7712.

We recently have also started a Men's Group for male-identified survivors of sexual violence. If you are interested in joining this group, please contact us at 505-266-7712 so that we can get you started.

You are not alone and we are here to help. Let us help you through this journey to help you go from victim to survivor.
